Iron and stone softlock: the home ship trickle

In Running out of stone, a player reply attributes the home ship’s stone, iron and tool supply to deposits inside its range. That explanation is community evidence, not an official production specification. The separate Reddit Iron/Stone Softlock report describes scarce deposits after planetary exploration; it does not independently prove the home-ship rule. Hotfix #3 addresses sand generation, not exhausted iron or stone.

What I would watch before the vein dies

  • Read the location summary for the home ship’s resource flow while the first deposits are still ticking.
  • While deposits remain, reserve the materials shown by your current Mine build panel and establish access to another usable deposit. Older Demo wiki costs are not verified for 1.0 and should not determine the reserve.
  • A mined-out pit has to be selected and Finish Job’d before you can fill it. That step is in the official FAQ.
  • The Steam thread reports 100% demolition refunds on normal difficulty. Refunds are a difficulty setting in the Ludens guide, so inspect your own setting and demolition preview before dismantling anything. Preserve food, water and the buildings needed to recover the chain; keep a separate save first.

What this is not

Sand that never spawned in the breathable area is a different report, partly addressed on 18 October. For a Reformer atmosphere warning, see Obstructium. A stalled move can also lock scarce materials; Hotfix #4 adds cancellation, but does not claim to fix deposit exhaustion or every already-stalled save.

Resource pages: iron, stone. If you are still in the opening hour, the beginner guide puts the second mine on the timeline before the vein can empty.
