Stone: deposits, construction and depleted pits
Stone shortages can prevent the construction needed to reach another deposit. Start with the Stone resource-flow view and the current Mine build panel: a visible deposit, a completed building and a usable supply chain are separate checks. Construction costs from older Demo wiki pages are not verified for 1.0 and are not used as a building budget here.

Check the source before expanding
- Find a Stone deposit in the resource overlay, then check the Mine’s selected task, road, warnings and staffing. The official guide requires workplaces within housing range and all production work slots filled.
- Reserve the materials shown by the current construction preview for the next usable deposit. This is planning advice, not a guarantee that every generated map has an accessible replacement.
- Once a deposit is depleted, the official FAQ says to select its former location and press Finish Job before a Landscaper can fill the hole. Filling a pit does not create a new deposit.
Home-ship supply and recovery reports
In Running out of stone, the original poster says Stone stopped arriving while some other supplies continued. A reply attributes Stone, Iron and Tools production to deposits inside the Home Spaceship’s range. That is a player explanation, not an official specification or proof that all three stop simultaneously in every save.
Another reply describes recovering Stone by demolishing buildings with full material refunds on normal difficulty. Check your difficulty setting and demolition preview, preserve essential services and keep a separate save before trying it. Use the softlock checklist for that recovery decision. Hotfix #3 reduced the chance of missing Sand in the breathable area; it does not claim to replenish Stone. Iron has a separate ore-and-smelting chain.
